fire resistant belt

Fire resistant conveyor belt is best choice for internal transportation within tunnels and coal mines. In these circumstance, the material is exposed to flame. So there are chances of fire hazards. Its is suitable for handling coal, coke, and other fire prone materials.

In fire resistant belt the rubber covers are anti-static and fire resistant. This is according to international standards with special compound of Neoprene and SBR rubber. Therefore this type of rubber can prevent fire from spreading over the entire belt. These fire resistant conveyor belt possess self-extinguishing design and prevent fire from spreading over the entire belt. In order to ensure the fire retardant properties of these fire resistant belt, we conduct various testing according to ISO standards. These tests include drum friction test, flame test, electrical resistance test etc.

Our fire resistant conveyor belts are perfect to prevent fire risks in coal mines. What’s more, it reduces the maintenance of conveyors. Otherwise flame at the blast furnaces of iron works can easily damage the ordinary belts. Apart from this, these fire resistant belts also find usage in thermal power plants, mining industry, coal cleaning plants and other industries.

fire resistant conveyor belt

Conveyor belts cannot be totally fire proof. Every belt will burn when it is exposed to a naked flame that is sufficient to ignite the belt. This is because the fabrics inside the carcass of the belt (most commonly polyester and nylon) are inflammable. And they have little or no resistance to fire. However, we can make the rubber cover in the protective top and bottom covers and the skim between the fabric plies of the carcass to resist fire. We just need to add special chemicals and additives to the rubber compound. When the rubber is ignited, gases created by the additives will emit which effectively starve the flames of oxygen, thereby extinguishing the fire.
